About this event

January 29: Shakespeare Feast of Fun

Joseph Coté
leads us through a rare opportunity to meet people we know but may have forgotten.

They’re everywhere. They speak English in a different way but you’ve met them all before. Join us for “Sixty minutes with the Bard of Stratford-upon-Avon,” William Shakespeare, and his wild and “worth-meeting-again-up-close-and-personal” group of characters.

  • Gossip with Lucy and Ethel as they thwart the advances of the town womanizer.
  • Overhear the love warblings of the high school boy calling for the girl he just met at a dance but loved instantly.
  • Shake hands with a guy who reminds you of Henry, your brother-in-law, but claims to be England’s greatest warrior king.
  • Attempt to dissuade a crazy-looking lady (Aunt Belle?) from murder so she can finally get to wear a tiara.
  • Share recipes with three weird sisters and a big stew pot.
The event promises to be a must-attend FEAST with special guests we all know from our circle of friends, family members, and fellow Hannaford shoppers. A Shakespeare feast awaits you!

Joseph Coté has led explorations in four Shakespeare courses and 11 individual, monthly master classes over the past two years with the Coastal Senior College; the latter series is titled “Journeys with Will Shakespeare.” Focusing on classic plays and on Shakespeare in particular, Joseph has performed 14 featured roles in the plays of the Bard. While living in London for seven years, Joseph’s actor training mentor was the late, highly esteemed John Broome of the Royal Shakespeare Company. With a focus on the text, his classes are highly interactive with little scholarly lecture.
