”I Can’t Even Draw a Stick Figure!”

About this event

Think you can’t draw, paint, create . . .?  Risk failure to find success in this introductory art course that will awaken that buried spark of creativity that we all possess! After more than 50 years of studio art practice and teaching, I have devised an art exploration that will allow your hidden art spark to emerge and begin to glow. Utilizing techniques borrowed from Peter London, Betty Edwards, your “third eye,” and my own studio practice, you will experience line, form, and color. This is the moment to connect with the joy and recognition of a dormant art sensibility. Come and explore this opportunity to create work that holds a personal connection. Time to be Art Smart!

Students will be asked to provide materials such as printing paper, soap, Craypas pastels, Sharpies and drawing paper. A full list of materials will be sent to each enrolling student upon registration.Class Limit: 15

Instructor Susan Morley holds a dual BFA in Studio Art and English Literature from UMass/Amherst and an MFA in painting from (MICA) Maryland Institute College of Art. Always curious to explore in depth myriad aspects of the arts, her studies have taken her multiple times to England, Italy, China, and Japan to stretch and explore creative possibilities. As a Peace Corps volunteer for three years in South America, Susan worked with Indigenous weavers in design and illustrated a children’s book written in Quechua. She formally taught studio art: drawing, design, painting, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture, as well as Spanish and ESL for 47 years. Susan fully embraces the practice of lifelong learning.
