In and Out of Kilter-Exploring Balance with Experiential Anatomy

About this event

Balance is such an interesting topic to explore in this time when so much in our lives can feel out of kilter. As our bodies respond to the changes that come with age, the experience of being in and out of kilter happens in many ways. We try to prevent falls. We deal with changing senses, especially vision and hearing. Our ability to do things we once did with skill and grace can lack its familiar ease.

This class is about developing resilience by using resources we already have in our bodies. Beginning with attention and imagination and then adding our tactile, proprioceptive, and vestibular senses (What are they?), we’ll explore how we balance and how we create new ways to balance when we need them.

Participants in this class can expect to find gentle movement, respectful attention, ideas that may stretch one’s imagination, and plenty of silly good humor. Class Limit: 10

They developed and taught versions of the experiential anatomy curriculum for children and elders. Susan and Richard also taught experiential anatomy as part of the Resonant Kinesiology Training Program for bodyworkers and medical professionals in Burlington, Vermont in the 1990s.
