Painting Backyard Wildlife in Watercolor Pencil
About this event
Connect with nature by drawing a range of backyard wildlife using watercolor pencils. Step by step instructions and tips on techniques that result in softly blended or bold colors created by mixing watercolor pencils and water. A different creature will be the subject for each class. Materials needed for class: a set of watercolor pencils, graphite pencil, jar of water, watercolor paper pad no smaller than 8" x 10". Suggested books that are helpful but not necessary: The Laws Guide to Drawing Birds by John Muir and Drawing Animal Portraits in Coloured Pencil by Lisa Ann Watkins. Class Limit: 8
Instructor Cynthia Dias is a watercolor artist who has taught art and historically based classes for a number of years. In addition to her artwork that features scenes of Maine and England, she creates textiles that are handwoven at her home in Newcastle. She has worked as a curator and director of various museums.
