June 12: Sheepscot Village with Paul Tenan
Our final walk continues the journey up the Sheepscot River to a place (partly in Newcastle, partly in Alna) little changed over the centuries. We will be in the Sheepscot Historic District, walking south on the The King’s Highway, one of Maine’s oldest roads, to see the community church, homes, cemetery, and remains of a blockhouse, and wander down to the tidal areas for outstanding views.
Easy to moderate one- to two-mile walk on paved and dirt roads, and trails.
Paul Tenan, an active CSC member and veteran of our fall walks, has planned out this excursion for us, and even offered his backyard on The King’s Highway as our picnic area.
