About this event
Many of us have long admired Don’s work to bring the stories of life on the Midcoast to so many engaged viewers. Now we have a chance to hear more about his favorite stories, what he’s curious about now, and how he goes about his always colorful and character-filled investigations.
Don Carrigan has been in the radio and TV broadcasting field for more than 50 years. A native of South Bristol and graduate of Lincoln Academy, Don began his career in radio during his college days in Orono before joining WLBZ-TV-2 in Bangor in the 1970s as a reporter, anchor, and photographer. He also worked for WCSH-TV-6, eventually becoming the 6:00 p.m. anchor and News Director for the two stations collectively known as News Center Maine. After a stint working for Senator William Cohen, he came back to broadcasting as Executive Producer for Public Affairs for Maine Public Television in the 1990s. Rejoining News Center Maine in 2003, Don covered political campaigns, major state issues, and events as the Midcoast bureau reporter. He now is producing longer stories as a reporter for the “207” magazine-format program — on weeknights (channel 6) at 7:00. Don still lives in the farmhouse in Walpole where he grew up — right in our neighborhood!
